Hezbânî
Hezbânî is an important Kurdish tribe mentioned along with tribes such as Humeydî, Lârî, Mihrânî, Hakkârî, and Buxtî in the geography dominated by the Mervânîs (Vol. 1, p. 129). Hezbânî tribes were spread over vast lands (Vol. 2, p. 57); the Hezbânî tribe, also featured in the Şerefnâme of the Kurdish historian Şeref Han Bitlisî, established an emirate known as the “Hezbânî Emirate” (Vol. 2, p. 58).
The tribe's name also stands out during the Eyyûbî period: Hüsâmeddîn el-Hezbânî, the deputy and army commander of the Eyyûbî sultan el-Melikü’s-Sâlih, was among the important figures of the era (Vol. 1, p. 203). The historian İbn Vâsıl, as a close friend of Hüsâmeddîn el-Hezbânî, had the opportunity to closely follow the events of the period (Vol. 1, p. 186).
