Harput
Harput, in the Ottoman period, was a sancak/kaza affiliated with Diyarbekir Eyaleti, where the Kurdish population was dense (Cilt 3, s. 34). Together with Çemişgezek and Kiğı, it became the subject of tahrir defterleri (Cilt 3, s. 3); the Harput icmal defteri numbered 264 and Harput Sancağı tahrirleri belonging to the 16. yüzyıl are important administrative sources (Cilt 3, s. 19, 22).
Harput is counted among the sancakları of Diyarbekir Eyaleti, together with Amid, Siverek, Ergani, and Nusaybin (Cilt 3, s. 31). Tahrir defterleri kept for the determination of Avârız hâneleri also shed light on the socio-economic structure of the region (Cilt 3, s. 30).
Waqf kayıtları regarding the transportation of zahire taken from Harput villages for the Ergani madeni amelesi, and evkaf kayıtları concerning İbrahim Hakkı Efendi, one of the important figures of the Nakşibendî tarikatı, are located in the archive (Cilt 3, s. 42).
